1 Timothy Chapter 5
Apostle Paul explains the importance of taking care of our parents. Our faith will be null if we ignore them in their old age. It will be a sin to be selfish and not provide love and monetary benefits to our parents when they need it the most. They had provided selfless love, protection, care when we needed them the most and when we were unable to take care of ourselves. Is it not our responsibility and duty at least partially to repay these debts?
Jesus made himself as an example when he entrusted his beloved mother to Apostle John to be taken care of while dying on the cross. He took it as his personal responsibility that she should be taken care of well even after His death.
Also Apostle Paul emphasizes to respect all elders as our own mother and father. We have to even take care of the poor relatives, widows and orphans in the family far as possible.
Secondly He tells us to reward monetarily and honor all the preachers, evangelists and all who work for the gospel. Any job has to be paid and these people are doing the most essential life saving job- that of salvation.
Lastly he advises us to be impartial in our daily life and to be bold enough to condemn sins wherever and whoever commits it. These sins cannot be always hidden but will be revealed at some time leading to punishment. In contemporary life we can see various leading personalities getting punished for the various crimes committed years earlier. In the same way, good deeds will also never be hidden and will bring honor and glory to those at the apt time. God will set a crown of glory on their head.
